Aiken County Republican Party Announces an “Old Time Republican Meet the Candidates Rally”

Aiken, SC, September 24, 2008 – Chairman Dennis Saylor and Vice-Chairman David Lobb announced that the Aiken County Republican Party will host an “Old Time Republican Meet the Candidates Rally” to be held at the Aiken Horse Park (Steeplechase grounds) in Aiken on Thursday, October 9 at 6 pm. Both gentlemen expressed their enthusiasm at having all Republican elected officials and Republican candidates running for office on Election Day, November 4th, 2008 attending this Rally. This will be the first time in recent history that Aiken County’s two U.S. House members—Congressman Joe Wilson (CD2) and Congressman Gresham Barrett (CD3)—will appear at the same rally. The Congressmen will speak on the current issues affecting the citizens of Aiken County. i.e. energy issues, the financial crisis, and immigration. S.C. Senator Greg Ryberg (SC24) and S.C. Senator Shane Massey (SC25), both of whom are running for re-election will speak about their accomplishments and visions for the citizens of the county.

Mr. Neal Dillon will speak about how the Congressmen have been helping to honor his son Marine Cpl. Matthew Dillon who was killed, December 11, 2006 while on patrol in the Ambar province of Iraq in the defense of freedom.

Warren Mowry, Executive Director, South Carolina Victory 2008, will speak on behalf of John McCain and Sarah Palin. South Carolina Victory 2008 is the organization responsible for assisting the Republican candidates in their election efforts.

The location of the event is significant, since it is very near the line dividing Congressional Districts 2 and 3. Aiken Horse Park is located at the intersection of Audubon Drive and Powderhouse Road in Aiken.

Cleve Walker from WAFJ (88.3 FM) will be the master of ceremonies for the night’s festivities, Andrew Siders will sing the National Anthem and music will be provided by the AAA (Home School) Band conducted by Barb Rollins

Admission to the event is $15 per single (1 person); $25 per couple (2 people) for tickets purchased by Oct. 3rd. After Oct 3rd the tickets will be $25 per single (1 person); $35 per couple (2 people). This admission includes one BBQ meal (single) and two meals (couple) and drinks catered by Papa Russ.
