Looking for Stimulus in All The Wrong Places

The majority of Americans were looking for change from Obama and now many of them will get some small change that will do nothing for the economy. However all of us will have to live with the consequences. Much more government intrusion into our daily lives and Trillions more in debt that will inevitably lead to serious inflation. What has not changed, despite Obama's promise, is the way politics is played in Washington. Enjoy the Videos! What Kills a Skunk is terrific.

WHAT KILLS A SKUNK?

  1. Obama lectured us for 3 weeks about how vital it was we get money pumped into the economy. He said it was a national emergency and delay would lead to a catastrophe.

So naturally, after Congress voted on the legislation Friday, what did Obama do? He went on vacation for 3 days and will sign the legislation on day 4. Yep. We sure can see this was a national emergency alright. /sarcasm

If this is how he intends to react in a true emergency, we're in for a long 4 years.

  2. I don't want to hear what the Republicans think about the economy --

They are the ones who said Medicare drug bill was great http://www.nytimes.com/2004/03/18/politics/18MEDI.html?ex=1395032400&en=9dc085e0ed961043&ei=5007&partner=USERLAND

They are the ones who said nothing about $9 billion that went missing in Iraq or the billions of dollars in weapons intended for Iraqi security forces but "went missing"

Or the half trillion deficit run up by the Bush administration and the republican controlled Congress or the massive tax cuts for the ultra wealthy

Maybe it's time to scrap "supply side" economics.
Time to give the Democrats a chance and live with the consequences like we did under Republican rule for the past several years.

  3. Oh, anonymous - never fear. Democrats will live and die with the consquences like we did under the Republican Congress.

How do you feel about the co-equal branch of government (that would be Congress and Pelosi's favorite expression) being in control of democrats for the last 2 years and watching the economy tank during that time. Or how about that Barney Frank repeatedly telling us that neither Fannie nor Freddie Mac were in trouble.

Obama was the #2 recipient of Fannie/Freddie lobbyist dollars. Obama consulted with disgraced former CEO of Fannie Mae, Franklin Raines, on economic matters. Oh, sure. Let's consult a loser on how to handle the economy.

How about the Clinton administration's obsession with multiculturalism that dictated where mortgage lenders could lend and helped created the high risk subprime loans now infecting like a retrovirus on the balance sheets of our institutions?

Apparently you didn't know that in 2003 the NYT reported that the Bush administration recommended the most significant regulatory overhaul in the housing finance industry. In 2005, McCain presented a plan to Congress to overhaul Fannie/Freddie. Both Republican plans were blocked by Democrats who voted along party lines and Republicans could not get the 60% majority required to go along with the reform plans (apparently because republicans have so many RINO's in office, the same way Democrats have what they call Blue Dog Democrats who voted against Obama's spending bill).

Did Republicans over-spend? Absolutely. But it's nothing like this spending orgy we're seeing in the face of such a severe economic downturn that economists are using the D as in depression word.
