Egyptian Chronicles: Helping Haiti

I posted this article as an example of the commonality of interests that exists all over the world. I have followed the Egyptian Chronicles for quite a while.I have not always agreed with its postings and the many hateful comments made by others to the site( unfortunately a sickness that affects many blogs)but I admire the editors spunk and her desire to better the life of all Egyptians.

  1. God Blesses those who help those less fortunate. This is a global calling and it is an oportune moment in time to assist the Haitians overcome many challenges and bond with the global community united in a common cause. We know they need long term assistance to help themselves create a free and independent nation. I don't feel we should do it for them. The people of Haiti must rally together and rebuild a better place for their citizens. If they become dependent on the charity of others they will continue as a welfare state, mired in helplessness, instability and ultimate failure. They are a proud people enslaved by corruption, dependence, and inadequate opportunity. Despite the global response of aid, there are criticisms that it was too slow. I grieve for them and hope for their growth as an independent nation! As in our own country, education and honest opportunity bring freedom and security.

  2. Belltowers comments are very much appreciated
There are those who blame the United States for the awful conditions that have prevailed in Haiti for many years. They do this despite the fact that the U.S.and the UN plus an untold number non-governmental organizations and volunteers have spent millions upon millions of dollars and years of work trying to improve the lot of the Haitians. Perhaps we can now find a way for the Haitians to help themselves.
